About The National College of
Security Professionals Team
Steve Wood, heads up our training department. Having set up a very successful Enforcement agency that specialises in Protesters, Squatters, Travellers, on private land. It soon became clear that there was insufficient training to ensure that Enforcement officers had the correct training when it came to dealing with very contentious matters.
The training includes the use of the shields to approach and provide protective cover. This cover is essential to ensure our Enforcement Agents gain access to the building and provide ongoing protection, especially in situations where there might be missiles or objects thrown, whilst remaining safe. On land and large sites, it also enables large barriers and obstacles to be secured and safely removed.
The Enforcement Agents are Conflict Management Trained, BTECH Level two handcuff restraint, along with trained First Aiders, and self defence trained. Refresher training is carried out every six months, but not just on the physical side, we also carry out refreshers on the legal aspects, and continued CPD with Conflict Management.
Steve was the first person in the country to bring this type of training to the Enforcement Sector. whilst he had massive amounts of experience he was not a licence trainer. Therefore he took adult teaching exams, including specialise training to be able to teach his chosen subjects, these include, Handcuff restraint both rigid and soft cuffs, Conflict Management, Situation awareness, Self Defence, all to Btech Level 3.Our two trainers who joined him are Nick Hoon, and Nigel Leith. Both are trained in Level 2 PSU training and teach the staff in this are, along with Btech level 3 Self defence, Conflict Management, and Restraint Techniques.
All three are ex-Avon & Somerset police officers with a wealth of experience and training to pass on to our students.
