National College of Security Professionals, handcuffing course is designed for individuals in police, security, executive protection, & military assignments. It can also be used in a variety of civilian personnel for self-protection purposes. The emphasis of instruction is towards how, why and when to use Rigid or Soft Cuff restraints, in often difficult & different situations and circumstances.

There will be some pre-learning with respects to the law when using handcuffs, including Health & safety, and the Criminal law act, not forgetting Common Law. About ten hours prior to attending the course.

The course will cover topics such as the safest approach & positioning for handcuffing, handcuffing suspects that become resistant and combative, double locking, removing handcuffs in a safe manner, to include restraint techniques.

This course is highly recommended for individuals expected to form part of a response team, working with companies involved in Prison Services, Door Supervisors, Hospitality Sector, Hospitals, transferring prisoners or patients to and from a prison or hospital, it is also for  airports staff, border forces. The use of handcuffs may be required as part of your operational role, if you haven't had the correct training then you could open yourself up to a legal suit, with the correct training, this could be avoid.

Don’t forget the use of soft cuffs can also be used in secure hospitals, or schools where pupils are disruptive, or have behaviour issues, with previous history of violence toward the staff, soft cuffs are essential in today's society, and proper training is again essential before you or your staff should implement the use of them.
